gen-E's runbooks are a collection of passive, workflow-based, active automations and action tasks.
Resolve's Social ITPA platform consists of a unique combination of Runbook Automation (RBA) (now commonly referred to as IT Process Automation or ITPA) and the Resolve Collaborative Operations Manager solution. gen-E defines run books as a collection of automations and action tasks that are designed to execute together based on an event, a user initiated request or a time based schedule.
Resolve integrates the following types of automations together:
- Passive Automation: Passively collects data, converts it to information and uses for analytics from which decisions are made
- Workflow-based Automation: Automates the workflow of IT processes and individual tasks
- Active Automation: Automation in which some type of data movement, transfer or active change of managed object (or IT service) state or runtime behavior occurs
